Syrris Offer Free FRX Flow System to Academics

Royston, UK – Leading chemistry automation product innovator, Syrris, has today launched an exciting new competition for academics to test their reactions under flow conditions using its new flow chemistry experimental (FRX) system. As part of a continued commitment to work together with leading academics from universities worldwide, Syrris are providing scientists with the opportunity to win one month’s free use of one of its FRX systems, the FRX300, including delivery, training and system support.

To enter the competition applicants must submit an abstract of approximately 500 words detailing the nature and objectives of experiments they would carry out on the FRX300 system – the most novel proposal will win.

The FRX was developed in collaboration with Professor Steve Ley at the University of Cambridge as a cost-efficient flow chemistry system for both solid- and solution-phase chemistry. The FRX enables reactions to be performed under laminar flow conditions, significantly improving reaction speed, optimisation and control. Additionally, high-pressure capabilities permit the super heating of solvents and the wide flow range pump and reaction heating systems allow multiple conditions to be run.

Easy-to-use, its modular design allows chemists to select the set-up that best suits their individual needs and additional units are easily integrated as reaction steps or experimental complexity increase. Furthermore, a small footprint allows easy placement on any laboratory work surface.

The FRX300 package up for grabs includes 3 pump modules, a reagents store, a reactor adaptor, a tube and micro reactor, a pressurisation module, a Flow Liquid-Liquid Extraction (FLLEX) for compound purification and separation post reaction and collection module. Full user training will be provided to allow chemists to get maximum benefit from the system provided.
